Design Thinking and Development

Design Thinking and Development

Don't approach projects knowing full well the area your going to go when it comes to looking at research, ideas, process and concepts.

Decide what the problem is first before approaching the above.

Why do I need to do it?

Look at your target audience and learn from them.

Brief
In groups consider how you might encourage a UK consumer to consider the eating of - an acknowledged sustainable source of protein - Insects.

Before even looking at sources of influence and research from primary and secondary sources we began analyzing the problem at hand focusing on Obstacles & opportunities to overcome and develop on to form an initial idea.

The final concept we came up was to begin working out how to tackle an idea that focuses on taking the mealworm and other edible insects into the health industry.

We planned on doing this by creating a range of products with the insects to attract sub markets within the industry.

Extracts and oils from the insects could be placed into health supplement tablets like cod liver oil.

Grind it down to substitute flower, a low carb high protein alternative.

Take advantage of the high protein for the body building industry by creating protein shakes.

Create health bars similar to naked bars, combine meal work with fruit and things like yoghurt to act as a replacement of nuts.

We would price it at mid to high range due to the target market being quite "fad" driven, theres common acceptance for paying high prices for health related products as they feel like its relevant.
